Sadguru Shri 108 Ishwar Shivacharya Maharaj was born in Chikodi, Karnataka on 15 August 1923, in a cultured family. His childhood name was Gurumurti. He took spiritual education at varanasi. Apart from his mother tongue Kannad, he had the mastery over Marathi and Hindi.
During his stay at Yaval, Dist. Jalgaon, he got the affection of shivlingappa Barjibhe. Influenced by the preaching of Maharaj, Barjibhe family made him their spiritual guru. The family constructed a Math at Yaval for his stay where he expanded his horizons of knowledge. In 1977 at Basmathnagar he was named as Sadguru Shri Ishwar Shivacharya Maharaj. His love for books, studious nature, good manners made him a famous personality during his short -stay at Basmathnagar.
